Rent-a-Murder

Would you like your very own Murder-Mystery evening created for you at your local pub or hotel, or even at a dinner party in your home?

Denmead Operatic Society now has a portfolio of three different Murder Mystery Evenings which we can come and perform at your event:

England Expects ...or...
One Broadside Too Many

A Trafalgar dinner is held in a quiet English village and murder follows. Several of the guests prove to have murky pasts and suspects (naval or otherwise) abound.

Harry Potter and the Deadly Pillows

Twenty years after the defeat of You Know Who, Hogwarts School is preparing for an anniversary celebration. But all is not well and, as friends gather at Harry and Ginny Potter's house, dark clouds are looming.

Much Ado About Murder

There is nothing like an amateur production of Shakespeare to bring out the worst in a village drama group, and death stalks the stage - so does the ghost of Shakespeare.

AGM Report

Our Annual General Meeting was held on 7th July 2011 and there was an excellent turn-out. Reports from the Chairman, Treasurer, Producer and Musical Director were all well received.

We said a huge "thank-you" to Ann Dent-Smith who stood down as Secretary after five years of sterling work for the Society. Ann was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. At the same time we welcomed our new Secretary, Julie Johanssen, and wish her well in her new job.

2011 Life Membership

At the 2011 AGM, Life Membership was conferred on our former Chairman, Peter Lindsay. This is the highest award that the Society can give.

Had it not been for Peter's enthusiasm and hard work, the Society could well have folded nine years ago. But, thanks to Peter and the sterling work of a faithful few, it has stayed afloat and grown substantially in numbers and ability ever since. Thank you, and congratulations Peter.
